Damir Skomina to Referee Europa League Final
Manchester United Lose Europa League Final on Penalties
Slovenian official Damir Skomina has been appointed to referee the Europa League final between Manchester United and Villarreal on May 26.
Skomina, 44, has been a FIFA referee since 2003 and has taken charge of several high-profile matches, including the 2017 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus.
Manchester United lost the Europa League final on penalties to Villarreal on Wednesday night. The match finished 1-1 after extra time, with Gerard Moreno scoring for Villarreal and Edinson Cavani equalizing for United.
This was Manchester United's second UEFA Cup/Europa League final, having won the only previous occasion in 1968.
