Boston Celtics Take Commanding 3-0 Lead in NBA Finals
Celtics Hold Off Mavericks Comeback Attempt in Game 3
Tatum and Brown Lead Boston to Victory
Dallas, TX - June 15, 2024 - The Boston Celtics have taken a commanding 3-0 series lead in the 2024 NBA Finals after defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-98 in Game 3. Despite a spirited comeback attempt by the Mavericks in the second half, the Celtics held on to secure the victory. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 31 points, while Jaylen Brown finished with 24 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter. The Celtics also got solid contributions from Robert Williams III (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Al Horford (12 points, 10 rebounds). Luka Dončić led the Mavericks with 33 points, but he struggled with his shot, shooting just 10-of-24 from the field. Spencer Dinwiddie added 19 points and Jalen Brunson had 18 points. The Mavericks had a chance to tie the game with 5:25 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Dončić missed a three-pointer and Brown grabbed the rebound. Brown then made a layup to put the Celtics up by four points, and the Mavericks never got closer. The Celtics will now have a chance to sweep the series in Game 4 on Friday night in Dallas. The Mavericks will need to find a way to stop Tatum and Brown if they want to extend the series.
